Now that I've revealed my identity, I'm going to be relying heavily on my amazing Affiliated Agents to help keep the secret part of the project going. Needless to say, I'm still getting loads of emails from wonderful people who want to participate. Affiliated Agent K is one of those people She just completed her first mission this week! Congrats, Affiliated Agent K!
Date: Wednesday, 28 July 2010
Time: 7:00 a.m.
Location: North Shore office building, women's restroom, Pittsburgh, PA
Affiliated Agent K states:
Today, I completed my first mission! I grabbed a cute gift at Pier 1 for $3. It was a tiny glass pig with wings that read "Next time someone tells you to do something that you don't want to do just look at this little guy and laugh," creating the joke of "when pigs fly". I just thought it was something cute for someone to keep on their desk.
I wrapped the gift with the hot pink paper and green ribbon and left my little note along with the Secret Agent L card.
I come into work earlier than most people so I was able to go into the spot to take my photos. I left the gift in the stall of the bathroom for a surprised person to find. Time passed and I checked on the gift a few hours later. It was still there.
A short time later I needed to go wash my hands. I just happened to walk in as my friend and co-worker discovered the gift. She loved it! Luckily, I was able to keep a straight face long enough for her not to suspect anything.
Next time, I think I'll hind it in a place where there isn't a chance of me discovering the finder of the gift!
Well done, Affiliated Agent K! Thanks for making the world a kinder, more smiley place!

Aren't You Glad I Said Donuts!
After an extended absence, Number 2 reports a mission. Wow! Is it great to be back. Home. I never want to leave Pittsburgh again. So to thank some of Pittsburgh's friendliest and finest, SAL teamed up with Dunkin' Donuts again to give downtowners a nice after-lunch treat.
After a lunch meeting today, SAL and I set up the plans with Robyn of Dunkin.
MISSION: Donut Delivery Girl
DATE: Thursday, July 29
TIME: 1:15pm
Step 1: Pick up two dozen assorted (including Secret Agent L) donuts from the Dunkin Donuts in Market Square.
Step 2: Choose recipients of each dozen.
The first was fairly simple. Market Square is really coming along; the construction is nearly complete, the lunch tables are up, and the food vendors are out! The second was a bit more difficult; so many great people downtown deserve a treat.
After picking up the donuts, I wandered around Market Square until I spotted a PNC bank. I am donating to a project a friend and her daughter have started, Help Me, Help Others and needed to take care of some banking business.
So I thought, why not just leave a dozen inside for the hardworking staff to enjoy!
I walked in, set the donuts on a little table beside the tellers, finished my business, and walked out, leaving the donuts behind.
The door was even held for me by another teller as I exited. I don't think anyone even noticed the donuts until I left. Awe.some!
Then I headed toward the Blvd. of the Allies. Always a busy place. I saw the sign for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross and knew I had to leave them the second dozen donuts.
I walked in to a very friendly desk attendant but didn't let his greeting deter me. I plopped the bag on the counter and said, "I'm delivering a dozen donuts!" He asked who ordered them to which I responded with my hands in the air in a questioning manner and a peppy, "The Red Cross?!?" Fortunately, this was sufficient enough information. He told me he'd find out who called for them as I quickly thanked him and headed toward the door. I couldn't wait around to answer anymore questions - the SAL card on the boxes would do that.
I snapped his photo, donuts on the counter, as I left the building.
Hope everyone enjoys their afternoon treat from Dunkin and SAL!

MISSION: Finally. #helloSAL.
Well, tonight's the night.
I will be revealing my secret identity at the #helloSAL fundraiser at the Firehouse Lounge in the Strip District. Nervous? Of course! Excited? Absolutely! The Secret Agent L Project began one year ago today (Happy Anniversary to me!), so tonight it only seems fitting that I would begin taking the project to the next level.
And in order to do so, I think I'm gonna have to show the ol' face.
If you can't make it tonight to the big reveal, you can watch it here, courtesy of Mike Woycheck, Man of All Things Amazing and Kind. Barring any technical glitches, the web stream should begin around 8 p.m.
I will be revealing my identity promptly at 9 p.m., so make sure you're not taking a potty break or anything.
Thank you all for your love and kindness over the past year, for your continued interest in and support of the Secret Agent L Project, and for your commitment to making this world a kinder place.
I send my love to each and every single one of you.
Check back early next week for photos, video, and all things Big Reveal!

MISSION: Kindness from Down Under
Get ready, folks.
Really.
Are you sitting down?
Good.
We have ANOTHER international mission today! That's three in a row! This world really is so much smaller than we think! Look at how kindness just keeps spreading--across time zones, across oceans, across barriers of all types. This is so exciting!
Affiliated Agent A in Perth, Australia, took it upon herself to spread a little kindness and day-brightening where she works. Let's check out the details of her mission!
Date: 14 July 2010
Time: during the workday
Location: Ladies Restroom, Public Transport Authority, Perth, Australia
Affiliated Agent A states:
Affiliated Agent A, we are honored to have you spreading kindness down under, and we look forward to more missions from you! Thank you!

Dear Secret Agent L,
Inspired by your amazing work I decided to share a little happy over here in Australia. I work at the Public Transport Authority in Perth, Australia and people don't always look too happy. So I left a present in one of the ladies bathrooms, the most discrete place I could find. I have since been back to check and it is gone.

I left a piece of White Orchard Fudge (wrapped of course) and 6AUD, with instruction to "enjoy a coffee and some fudge--you work hard, you deserve it!"
Six dollars isn't too much but it will get you any coffee you want from the downstairs cafe and usually a cake as well.Affiliated Agent A, we are honored to have you spreading kindness down under, and we look forward to more missions from you! Thank you!

MISSION: Cruisin' on a Hot Summer Night in Canada
Oh. Snap.
TWO international missions in a row?
We're rockin' the world with kindness, yo.
Affiliated Agent K--who calls herself an Affiliated Member of the Secret Agent L Project--is awesome. Not only has she joined the SAL team, she's been doing Random Acts of Kindness (RAKs) for quite some time already!
Hot diggity.
Her recent mission:
Date: Friday, 16 July 2010
Time: 7:45 p.m.
Location: Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, Main Street, Milton Ontario, CANADA
Gift: $5 gift card to Jay's Ice Cream
Let's see what went down, shall we?
Affiliated Agent K states:
I was really nervous this time because it was a much bigger crowd of people around me compared to normal. But I tried to stay inconspicuous. I stopped by a local church to have a quick "sit down" on their steps, and I dropped the package as I stood up to leave. Then I just walked away.
I actually stopped at a street vendor to make a quick purchase, and turned around to see one of the church ladies come out for air. I knew for the first time I was going to see my RAK get FOUND! She picked it up nervously and had a quick glance at it, then.... SHE PUT IT DOWN!!!!! A few moments later I was finished and headed for home. No clue if it was found later but I sure hope so. One thing I forgot to get a picture of was the actual GIFT inside!!!!
This was a super fun mission, can't wait to prepare for my next RAK!!!!!

MISSION: Chocolate in Spain.
You know what I love? When kindness goes international.
My Affiliated Agent J in Spain came through, as he promised he would.
Date: 16 July 2010
Time: midnight
Location: classroom, Madrid, Spain
Affiliated Agent J's report is as follows:
I am an ESL teacher in Spain now, although next year I will be moving to Budapest. I think that teaching is amazing and you get to learn so much about yourself and another culture. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep spreading random acts of kindness throughout the world!
My first mission was tonight. I am working at a summer camp, and it is tough! The kids are in school from 8:00 - 5:00 PM and receive instructions all in English. Directly following camp, they have sports practice and then stay up until 11:30 at night with mandatory fun activities. Everyone is tired already---the students, the monitors (Spanairds) and the English teachers. I decided that I would hopefully make someone's day a bit brighter.
I bought two huge chocolate bars which were large enough for an entire class or dorm group, and then snuck one into a classroom where the teacher is having a ton of problems with her students and a dorm group located near my room.
Let's hope that they enjoy it and are able to share! Also, if you notice in the second photo, there is a long message in Spanish, sadly English would not work for this country...and I had to remind kids not to eat it if they had allergies. (Always the teacher; I know!)
Affiliated Agent J, well done! I'm happy to report that you're our first male international agent! Keep it up!

MISSION: Secret Mission for a Secret Agent
My friend Chris (or, well, I consider him a friend, even though we've never actually met) sent me on quite an adventure today! When I put out a call for donations for the #helloSAL silent auction, he instantly offered to help out. What a guy! He put together a craft beer basket and made sure that getting it to me was a completely original experience. Since I can't exactly come in contact with Chris, due to the whole anonymity thing, he offered to send me on a mission just for me!
He sent me to Deer Lakes Park in Tarentum, PA, and told me where to start off. Needless to say, it was quite an adventure!
Chris told me to start at the park's entrance. There I would find the first clue. I now share with you, in pictures, today's mission. I hope you put your sunscreen on!
Thanks, Chris, for your generosity and your cleverness! Can't wait to finally meet you on Saturday!
